Mukuru Account Types and document requirements
There are 3 different account types to choose from when signing up to Mukuru in South Africa, each with it's own sending limits and documents required. Below are the different account types to choose from and requirements:
1. Mukuru Lite
Money Transfer Limit: Send up to R2 000 per month
Requirements:
• Some basic information about yourself
• The number from a legal Identification Document (e.g., SA ID, a Foreign Passport, or Asylum Paper)
• Your home address
Note: After your first send, we will call you to verify your details before you can send with us again.
2. Mukuru Core
Money Transfer Limit: Send up to R25 000 per month
Requirements:
• Legal Identification Document number (e.g., SA ID, a Foreign Passport, or Asylum Paper)
• A selfie holding your Identity Document
• Your home address
• Your job title
Note: We need to verify your documents to activate this send limit. It can take up to 24 hours.
3. Mukuru Max
Money Transfer Limit:
Nationals: Send MORE than R25 000 per month (up to R1 million a year)
Foreign Nationals: Send up to 12x your monthly income per year.
Requirements:
Nationals:
• SA Identity Document
• A selfie holding your Identity Document
• Proof of your address
Foreign Nationals:
• Foreign Identity Document, Foreign Passport, or Asylum Papers
• A selfie holding your Identity Document
• Proof of income
